So I have entered the world of telling my secrets to how we live and what toys we have that make life easier on us. In my first blog about “stuff” there is a good little story that led me to not only taking a friend’s advice, but preaching to the world that they need one of these in every vehicle!!
I’ve not seen or felt better about something as silly as this little $100 lifesaver! It started when we bought our Seadoo FishPro a year ago and I asked a buddy that is a PWC racer: “what is the most important gadget to have on my SeaDoo”. He answered with lightning speed: “get a Noco”!. I had no idea what he was talking about. He explained that it is a self-contained jump starter and that if I take care of my SeaDoo I’ll probably never need it. But there is always someone out there on the water, at an island or sandbar that will need a jump start. So, I looked into them, ordered one and charged it up when it arrived.
I was anxious to never need it, but always have it with us on the SeaDoo. In about a week, we went north to Sarasota to a Masters swim meet for the weekend. I thought, well this thing has a usb outlet so I can see how it works charging my phone. Julie is either racing, warming up, or warming down so I have a lot of screen time at meets. It was awesome! Quickly got my phone back to 100% as needed throughout the weekend. Then, as we were all packing up at the end of the meet, one of our Ft Lauderdale Teammates car battery was drained. His kids were hanging out in the car with the radio on most of the day and it got low enough that it didn’t turn over. He was in a little panic as this is Florida, who carries cables?! Oh I heard he needed a jump start and I couldn’t have moved faster to try the NOCO!!! I told him I wasn’t sure it would work, I had never tried it on a car before.

Well, I ran out to the Parking lot, feeling like some kind of superhero, and drove over to his car. When I pulled the NOCO out of it’s little bag, he looked at me like: NO WAY, what is that little thing?! I explained that it is supposed to jump a battery. Little did I know that he is an aircraft mechanic and clearly knew more about all of this than me. So, we hooked it up, let it sit on the battery for a minute, then he tried to turn it over. FIRST TRY! FIRED RIGHT UP!!! Now he wanted to take pictures of it, find out where I got it, etc… Now news travelled fast through the Team about this little NOCO. I should have done a deal with NOCO as I think this use alone was responsible for a couple hundred units being sold.
Well, now I have one for each of our cars, including the “78 Mercedes that drains batteries as a hobby.
But the NOCO fires it right back up! I know I sound like a salesman here, but this thing will save you or someone nearby and is worth carrying in your car or at least taking with on trips!!

Yes we have one. Jack received it as a Christmas gift. We travel with it, take it on the boat, camping. I agree It’s a good gadget to have!
Preaching to the choir.
Also love the passing of liability. Hand it over, let them jump their own vehicle. No connection to your car!
Also quicker in the dead of winter.
